Robert Addison Appointed Dick Harrison Trust Chairman

Robert take over the role following the passing of previous Chairman, Nick Utting, and brings with him a vast experience in auctioneering and land agency. 

Robert has been a Trustee of the Dick Harrison Trust since 2019 and was prior to that secretary to the Trust since it was created in 1989.

Robert has been involved in auctioneering and land agency his whole career. Robert began work in 1980, having taken the year before off to travel in New Zealand when he left school. He was interviewed by Dick Harrison and offered a year’s job with Harrison and Hetherington before going to the Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester in 1981 where he graduated 3 years later with a Diploma in Rural Estate Management. Robert was then again employed back at Harrison and Hetherington as a graduate working alongside Dick Harrison and the Team at Borderway Mart until he moved to Hexham and Northen Marts in 2010 as Managing Director since when he has developed and expanded that business to where it is today.

Robert who farms with his family at Kings Meaburn, Cumbria and alongside his farming he enjoys sport especially rugby, being captain of Upper Eden Rugby Team in his youth and continuing thereafter to coach the youth teams.

Robert brings with him deep knowledge, continuity, and a strong personal commitment to the Trust’s values having been involved for so many years. On his appointment, Robert said that “he was honoured and delighted to take on the role and looked forward to continuing the Trust’s work in supporting those training as auctioneers and land agents”
